In the morning, we packed up our luggage into the rental car and then walked over to the Dockside Pier, where we would take a quick tour of Brisbane, via The City Hopper. The City Hopper was a free ferry services that I would imagine was used mostly by tourists or people that happened to live near a stop and work near another stop. Either way, we thought it was a fun way to get on a boat and feel like you were doing something, while we took photos and video of the bridges and buildings.
We stopped off for some coffee and then walked down to the pier to wait in line. The ferry docked shortly after and we all filed up the ramp. At first we thought that maybe we should stay on the first floor, to avoid the morning sun, but I thought that there was just enough people that if we went upstairs and didn’t like it, that we could always come back down. I think that I made a great choice, because when we made it up the stairs, there was a two seats on the left side just waiting for us to sit down.
Just like us, there were a number of tourists on the ferry taking photos of the city, other boats, and bridges as we crossed under them. The most iconic was the Story Bridge, which connected South and North Brisbane. Along the river, we saw a number of skyscrapers, the Queensland Parliament Building, Queensland Government Building, and of course the Wheel of Brisbane.
As we reached the end of the line, we stayed on the ferry and took it back around to the Thornton Street Ferry Stop. From there, it was only a 10 minute walk back to the AirBnb.
